In A Rut
In the summer of 2019, I went on a creative journey to expand my movement vocabulary and enrich my artistry. I had been feeling as though I was stuck in a movement rut... devoid of new movement influences and ideas. I asked several friends and family members to gift me a movement phrase that spoke to their individual styles. From those, I wove together a solo, In A Rut, that took it's own creative journey through the summer.
The first performance was at the New Works show at Phantom Theater in Warren, Vermont. From there, I continued to add phrases, shift the order of the choreography, and play with musical selections. I ended my artistic adventure as a guest artist at The Sable Project during a 3 day residency. I highly recommend this experience to any artists. It was a magical time.
The final version of In A Rut was once again shared at Phantom Theater and included choreography by: Laurel Kean, Hanna Satterlee, Kiera Sauter, Avi Waring, Maleek Washington, and Natalie Wheeler.
Below is a video of In A Rut in it's first incarnation.
