Isadora Snapp is a passionate teacher, choreographer, and mover. She is intrigued by how dance can inform and influence our relationship with our bodies for the better. While her work spans a range of mediums and genres, the through line is an investigation of self and how we interact with the world.
Snapp is a native Vermont and grew up dancing at Contemporary Dance and Fitness Studio in Montpelier, Vermont under the direction of Lorraine Neal. She has had the opportunity to study with many teachers in ballet, modern, and jazz dance. Those studies took place at several different programs including, but not limited to, Bates Dance Festival, The Alvin Ailey American Dance Company Summer Intensive, and New York University - Tisch School of the Arts.
As a Vermont dancer, Snapp has been very fortunate to work with many talented local artists. These include Paul Besaw, Hanna Satterlee, and Kiera Sauter. In 2010, Snapp co-founded Montpelier Movement Collective with three other dancers - Avi Warring, Willow Wonder, and Amy LePage. MMC has evolved greatly since then and takes on whatever form needed for the current project. Hanna Satterlee and Natalie Wheeler are two notable dance who have worked with MMC in the past, as well as others.
Currently, Snapp teaches at the same studio she began dancing in - CD&FS. Over the past ten years her teaching style has evolved and developed to support the various genres of classes she teaches. Most notably, she has expanded the Ballet program at CD&FS past what it once was and recently completed a certification in Revolutionary Principles of Movement in order to support that growth. Snapp is also a member of the Vermont Dance Alliance. You can visit her profile page here: https://vermontdance.org/artist/isadora-snapp
In addition to being on the teaching staff, Snapp is co-director of Teen Jazz with Rosemary Leach- the studio's audition only teen performing group - and Director of the Junior Company. She resides in Barre with her husband, 3 kids, and 2 fluffy cats.

Personal Statement: I draw a lot of inspiration from the work and words of Alonzo King - the way he speaks about movement and it’s value is compelling to me. Jiri Kylian’s choreography is breathtaking and I hope to someday make a piece that is equally enthralling. As a teacher I am inspired by Lorraine Neal - she knows how to make a room full of bodies MOVE. |
